It's" FILMING WEEK!"

I thought id share with you what filming week is all about.

So....In the lead up to the day/night of filming a new body combat release, panic starts to set in very quickly. As international guest's ,visitors and DVD presenters arrive, there is a frantic rush to ensure that a schedule is ready to suit the needs of all 8 programs it's presenters , program coach's and program directors to work as efficiently as possible so that we all peak on the day/night of filming.

As many of you are aware being in the fitness industry this can prevent you from having any type of "normal" day to day routine! We all teach in the mornings or mid morning or afternoons or mid afternoons or evenings or late evenings…. Its so INSANE!!! And essentially no matter how hard we try to stick to a sensible schedule for filming, we simply end up having to change them.

But that’s ok, as we are all sooooo comfortable with change.. Ha ha ha..
Each day consists of;

  • 2- 5 class's.
  • 2-6 hours of team intense rehearsal time.
  • Mirror work on technique
  • Script writing
  • And depending on the program, fitness training.

If you ever have the AWESOME opportunity to be on a body combat DVD , I personally send you a 6 week training plan which consist of a number of up skilling tools such as: martial arts training, speed work power work and nutrion.

On the day of the DVD presenters arrival, he or she get the cool opportunity to create magic either in one of our choreography rooms or on the big stage!. at which point this allows myself and Rachael to have a strong understanding of there ability's.

Then the GAME begins. The DVD presenters get one on one coaching with us in all areas of coaching, choreography, technique, intelligent communication, and fitness magic.

We start around 8am or if the team wants to join me for normal training which starts 530am, consist of either run, muaythai, or strength conditioning.(which by the way trying to do weights in the morning suckkks!) and ends around 830pm or if they again want to join me in training, which consist of muaythai, MMA , juijitsu boxing or core training they do.

Our days are long and very often draining.
After every class without fail we are assessed, either by the help of a program coach creative director , another program director and always with the use of a camera.

Yes we laugh at our self's a lot, Yes we do make mistakes, And yes we do get frustrated with experience the feelings of "oh man why can I not teach" ive forgotten all of the basic!

With many hours of rehearsals under our belt we are on our way to the final day's of performing and hoping that not only do we achieve our objective in producing a very high standard product, but also doing it in one take!...

TO BE CONTINUED…...

  2. It's cool to read how all the filming works and wow, that's hard work!

I love this part: "Yes we laugh at our self's a lot, Yes we do make mistakes, And yes we do get frustrated with experience the feelings of "oh man why can I not teach" ive forgotten all of the basic!"

Thank God, you make mistakes too. And still have the same frustrations after all these years!
Sometimes I really want to hit myself in the face while teaching a class thinking, wow, I suck, I forgot to tell, this & that... hahaha. After class, that feeling is over immediately and the participants always had a great time, and so did I!

It's always worth waiting for the new release DVD. I play it over and over again (I'm better at learning it while watching, so I can study every move). And the little jokes, smiles, or funny remarks you guys make crack me up :-)

    Thanks for your hard work!
Keep it real and... stay with the fight!

Wow I love hearing about the pre-filming training! I also had no idea as to how much preparation you guys do, especially your 6 week program!

  7. Dan & Rachael, you are truly my combat heroes. You've put so much work into this and i am truly grateful. The moment i started BodyCombat42, i fell in love with it. My instructors were also amazing and they trained me and showed me the right techniques and I have since improved tremendously. Big shout out to both Brian & Mench Peralta. I miss them so much.
I would love to meet you both one day if i get the chance, Dan & Rachael. Take care, God bless.
    Much love,
